David Elery Dove, 73, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born on November 17, 1947 in Bladen County to the late Elery Dove and Gladys Trogdon. He leaves behind his loving wife, Belinda Thompson Dove of the home, two sons, David McCray Dove (Yvonne) of Greenville, NC, Eric Dean Dove of Bladenboro, one daughter Crystal Jean Dove (Tony Bright) of Bladenboro, one brother Billy Dove (Betty) of Bladenboro, two sisters Janice Wright of Bladenboro, Linda Paul (Marvin) of Lumberton, and eight grandchildren, Devin Dove, Brandon Dove, JD Russ, Summer Russ, Kalea Dove, David Robert Dove, Andrew Dove and Matthew Dove. David was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Nance, and Christine Nance.
David was a hard-working man who adored his family. He was known as one of the best backhoe operators in Bladen County, loved to operate cranes and took great pride in his job. An inventor of sorts, he was always coming up with new design ideas to share. He loved to catch up and make new memories at the Dove Family Reunions and he loved his Southern Gospel music. He was known by most and loved by all and will certainly be missed.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 6:00 pm in the Elery Dove Homeplace Cemetery at 878 Guyton Rd in Bladenboro with Rev. McCray Dove officiating. The family asked that you remember his wife, Belinda, in prayer as she is still in the hospital battling with COVID.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Funeral Fund of David Dove c/o Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 3150, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
