Clifton Butler

Clifton Lee Butler, age 78, of Elizabethtown, NC passed away on April 18, 2023, while at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.  He was born in Bladen County on September 10, 1944, to the late Kirby Lee Butler and Leona Butler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kirby Butler. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy H. Butler of the home, daughter Wendy B. Dockery and husband Joey of Dublin, grandchildren, Brittney Hester aka “Baby Popeye” (Maurice), Henry Dockery, and one great grandson, Will Hester aka “Alligator”.

Clifton was a loving family man. His grandchildren and great grandson were his life. He loved nothing better in life than spending time with his family whether it was walking the streets of Elizabethtown with his wife Judy, picking peas with Judy and Wendy, taking trips to White Lake, playing ball with the grands or picking up pecans with Will. Clifton was one of the great outdoorsmen. He enjoyed being in the woods hunting or in the water fishing. He taught Wendy at a young age how to squirrel hunt, she shook the vine, and he stood in waiting for the squirrels to come out. He enjoyed a good Carolina Master Fry corndog and sitting on a ball field watching the grandchildren play ball. Clifton was a simple man that enjoyed all the simple pleasures this life holds. His compassionate heart and lessons of life he passed on will forever be remembered.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Saturday. April 22, 2023 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Randy Andrews officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
