Bryte “Moose” Jackson West Jr., 73, of Bladenboro passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He leaves behind his loving wife, Gathie E. West of the home, children, Jimmy West (Mary) West of Clarkton, Barbara Britt (Mike) of Asheboro, Travis West of Whiteville, Deanna Cartner (Johnny) of Whiteville, Virginia DuBuke (Michael) of Burlington, KS, and Sharon Smith of the home, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way, two brothers, Douglas West (Betty) of Bladenboro and Robert West (Sandra) also of Bladenboro, four sisters,  Judy Prescott (Steve) of Supply, Shirley West of Bladenboro, Doris Simmons (Tommy) of Chadbourn, and Jo Ann Haskins (Leroy) of Cameron, and many nieces and nephews. Moose was preceded in death by his father Bryte West Sr., his mother Mary West, one sister Mary Frances Gooden and one brother, Terry West.

Moose, as he was affectionately known as, adored his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who loved nature and all its wonder, anything from watching hummingbirds to fishing and hunting. Moose was an active member of the National Plott Hound Association and Galeed Baptist Church. He loved talking with people and family gatherings, especially when food was being served. He will be eternally missed.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 6-8 pm at the Bladenboro Chapel of Bladen Gaskins in Bladenboro. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Galeed Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brett Young officiating.
