Elizabethtown

Betty Jean (Tedder) Sasser entered into eternal rest on Monday November 29th, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Calvin Sasser, her parents and one brother.

Ms. Sasser is survived by her two children, William Michael Sasser and his wife Anne, and Jean Sasser Clark of Elizabethtown.  Grandchildren:  William Stanley Sasser (Julie), Christopher Michael Sasser (Natalie), James Wesley Sasser (Ashley), Brooke Sasser McMichael (Mark), Blake Clark (Olivia), and Holden Clark.  She also had 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Lois Davis.

Betty Jean Tedder was born on February 3, 1933 in Hallsboro, NC. to Stephen and Jeanette Tedder.  She was the oldest of 3 children.  Betty was a 1951 graduate of Hallsboro High School.  She and Calvin were married on July 19, 1952.  They were married for 64 years until his passing in 2016.  After working in management in several different positions over the years, she joined her husband at Kinlaw Furniture Store where she worked up until recent health issues forced her retirement.  Ms. Virginia Allen and Douglas Mckoy were special friends and co-workers of over 40 years at the Furniture Store.

“Grandma” Betty or “Aunt” Betty loved her family and extended family and friends.  She loved shopping and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Many Sunday afternoons were spent fishing on her pier and she liked to joke that she wasn’t a fisherman, she was a “catcher”.  Betty had a quick wit and a great sense of humor.

Betty was a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church from 1958 until her death.  She sang in the choir and served in many different capacities over the years.  She loved her friends and church family, especially the ladies of the Miriam Clark Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 2-3 pm at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  Funeral Services will follow at 3 pm in the church sanctuary with burial following in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Elizabethtown Baptist Church.
