Arthur Hoover

August 4, 1949 — April 29, 2022

White Lake

Arthur Steven (Steve) Hoover, 72, passed away April 29, 2022 at UNC Health Southeastern Medical Center, Lumberton, NC after a courageous battle of over seven years on dialysis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Harrison (Sam) and Ruth Craven Hoover and his brother, Lewis Monroe Hoover all of Asheboro, NC.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife Barbara Hoover of 42 years; daughter Tonya Thompson (Perry) of Mount Gilead, NC, and Son, Shaun Hoover of Star, NC; grandchildren, Victoria Hoover, Beau Hoover, Shania Hoover, Holly Scott, and Samantha Thompson; sisters, Patsy (Odis) Hunt of Asheboro, NC, and Ann (Clint) Collins of Greensboro, NC.

Steve was employed for 20 years at Jordan Lumber Company in Mount Gilead, NC as a machinist. Due to his needing dialysis he had to retire earlier than he had planned. He loved his job and working for this company and always commented how good they treated him especially as his health declined.  After his retirement he and Barbara wanted to move to White Lake and Barbara retired early so they could do that.  Steve enjoyed living out his life at White Lake and made many new friends. He enjoyed riding his golf cart and sitting on the porch visiting with neighbors and friends. The laughing and teasing back and forth always lifted his spirits.

The family very much appreciates the support of neighbors and friends as you were always there offering your help as you recognized a need. You were a great comfort and blessing in numerous ways.

Steve requested no visitation/service. A special thank you to each person that shared your life with him.
