Alene Johnson

Alene Britt Johnson, age 96, of Bladenboro passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at UNC Southeastern in Lumberton. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Britt and Hessie Corner Britt, her husband Lawrence Patrick “Pat” Johnson, son Johnny Johnson, grandson Lawrence Johnson, two brothers JC Britt and Joe Britt Jr., six sisters Eunice Barr, Margie Edwards, Margaret Deaver, Eveline, Emma, and Sue Neal Taylor. Left to cherish her memory are sons Charles Johnson (Penny) of Bladenboro, Mitchell Johnson (Teresa) of Fayetteville, and Donald Johnson (Jeannie) of Beaufort, SC, one brother Lacey Downing of Winston Salem, two sisters Myrtle Parker and Linda Frances, seven grandchildren, Derrick Johnson (Kim) of Bladenboro, Maxanne J. Kriner of Fayetteville, Ferra J. Fulkerson (Fred) of Whiteville, Christopher Johnson (Natina) of Beaufort, SC, Candice J. Whitten (Christopher) of Dallas, NC, Jessica Hasty of Whiteville, and Samantha Johnson of Beaufort, SC, 14 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Alene was a strong independent Christian lady. She was a Charter Member of Northside Baptist Church in Bladenboro for a great number of years. Alene loved to read her bible, bake her family goodies, tend her garden, and spend time with her boys and grandchildren. Her deep-seated faith and trust in the Lord carried her in this life and gave her family a legacy to lean upon for the rest of theirs.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Northside Baptist Church in Bladenboro with Russell Benson and Floyd McKnight officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
